University of Valley Forge to Suspend Operations After Summer 2026 Semester
The Assemblies of God-affiliated institution, which enrolls 589 students, has been under pressure from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Last month the accreditor issued a “show cause” order — its most serious warning — citing concerns over finances, planning, and governance. Loss of accreditation would jeopardize students’ access to federal financial aid.
In a statement, the Board of Trustees said the decision came “after much prayer, careful consideration, and consultation” and followed years of documented financial challenges and unsuccessful efforts to find sustainable partnerships or paths forward. The board concluded it could not responsibly continue academic operations beyond the summer term.
The university said it will retain staff and services to assist students in transferring and continuing their education elsewhere. It expressed regret to students for the disruption.
The announcement adds another small private college to the growing list of institutions facing existential financial and accreditation pressures — a trend closely watched across the Division III landscape, where many schools operate with similarly tight margins.
