Early-season form is settling in. The first regular-season United Soccer Coaches polls dropped midweek, undefeated and high-scoring sides are stacking results, and programs are turning toward conference openers this weekend. Below is a grouped look at what’s new as of Friday evening. Polls and most recaps reflect games through Sept. 13–16; Friday itself is relatively quiet for new published articles.

NCAA statistical leaders (through midweek) show high-octane attacks: Pfeiffer and Saint John’s (MN) among the top men’s scoring offenses; WashU, Berry, and Rowan leading women’s scoring. Several men’s and women’s teams still have 0.00 GAAs.

Men’s Soccer Focus

St. Olaf men to No. 2: The Oles (6-0-0) rose one spot after a 17-2 scoring margin through six games (wins over Carroll, Bethany Lutheran, Carthage). Highest regular-season ranking in program history. They open MIAC play Saturday vs. Saint Mary’s. southernminn.com
Hope hat trick: Senior forward Seth Walters scored his first collegiate hat trick in a 4-1 win at Roanoke on Thursday. Hope Athletics posted the result Friday.
Lewis & Clark honors: Senior Dylan Weinstein set program marks (16th career point, 7th goal, 5,000+ minutes) and was named Ott of the Week.

Schedules continue to fill conference slates. Middlebury (3-0-0, No. 6) hosts Hamilton Tuesday after a 3-0 NESCAC win over Connecticut College; St. Olaf and others open league play Saturday.

Women’s Soccer Focus

St. Olaf women beat Gustavus: Local coverage noted Gustavus falling to St. Olaf (result from recent MIAC/non-conference slate).
Lewis & Clark first-year standout: Lucia Barrón Núñez earned Ott of the Week after her first win and first shutout (three saves in a 1-0 victory over George Fox).
CUNYAC slate: Friday women’s games include CCNY at Mount Saint Vincent; Thursday results were posted by the conference account.

Harry Kane set the record for fastest player to 100 Bundesliga goals (98 matches, beating a 49-year-old mark) as Bayern Munich hammered Union Berlin 7-0. Michael Olise scored a hat trick; Kane added a brace. Pure finishing numbers in a blowout—fun contrast to the tighter DIII games we’re watching.

I dropped into the SimpleCoachTV channel looking for older coaching content and landed on “SimpleCoach to Coach with Brandon Bianco, Head Men’s Coach at Denison University.” It’s a 40-plus-minute conversation (well over two months old) that goes beyond results into program building, player development, and what actually travels at the DIII level. Bianco’s perspective from a consistently competitive North Coast/UAA-adjacent program is worth the time if you like the “how the sausage is made” side of college soccer. Easy recommendation if you missed it when it first went up.
