United Soccer Coaches has not yet posted a 2026 in-season national poll (the first weekly ballots usually drop on Tuesdays), so the official national list below is the August 4 preseason ranking that NCAA.com and USC still carry as the current national board. Early-season pulse: Talisman Red’s computer ratings, updated September 11, already have Tufts, Conn College, Wesleyan, Rowan, Lynchburg, Williams, Cortland, Bowdoin, Hobart and Christopher Newport clustering at the top after the first two weeks. NCAA statistical leaders through September 9 show Pfeiffer, Saint John’s (Minn.), Alma, Bridgewater (Va.) and Pitt-Bradford setting the scoring pace, with Saint John’s, Cortland, Scranton and Stevenson among the 0.00 GAA group.

Early-season pulse: WashU has been ruthless — 11-0 at Westminster (Mo.), 7-0 at Simpson, 2-0 at Rose-Hulman — and leads NCAA DIII scoring offense at 10.67 goals per game through September 9. Grove City’s Tori Stevenson (7 goals) sits atop the individual chart.

Alex Johnson’s 83rd-minute header won it on Bello Field. The defending national champions are now 2-1 after last Wednesday’s 0-2 loss at Wesleyan.

Coaching Changes
No new DIII men’s or women’s soccer head-coaching announcements posted today.
The freshest staff note still circulating is Blake Aronson’s promotion to associate head coach on the Brandeis men’s staff (announced September 5). Head coach Gabe Margolis cited recruiting, day-to-day management and alumni work. The Judges reached the 2025 NCAA second round and pushed Tufts to double OT.

The #d3soccer firehose on Saturday was almost entirely official SID final-score posts, not fan debate. Themes:
- NESCAC opening weekend — Tufts men and women both winning 2-1 over Colby became the most-quoted pair of posts.
- Ranked-on-ranked women’s results — W&L over CNU, Lynchburg over Salisbury.
- Shutouts and braces — Adrian (Pelton brace), MSOE, Rochester’s 5-1.
- Friday leftovers — Brevard’s Classic win and WashU men staying unbeaten were still circulating this morning.
- Almost no recruiting or coaching chatter in the last 24 hours. The feed is scoreboard-first until the Tuesday polls.
One Soccer Story That Is Not DIII (and is worth your time)
U.S. U-20 women opened the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup by beating New Zealand 9-0 in Sosnowiec, Poland. Four goals before halftime, five after. It is the kind of statement result that will shape the youth-to-college pipeline conversation for the next two recruiting cycles — including a lot of the players DIII coaches will be watching when this age group hits campus.

Runner-up, if you want federation politics instead of a scoreline: U.S. Soccer is splitting its sporting department into separate men’s/boys and women’s/girls directors and giving Emma Hayes and Mauricio Pochettino a direct line to the CEO.

Came across this and stayed for the whole thing
Scrolling the SimpleCoachTV archive looking for something that was not this week’s pool show, I landed on “Best of the Best Soccer Playing Programs in Division III” (February 26, 2024).
It is not a ranking of who wins the most. It is SimpleCoach talking about the programs he actually enjoys watching — the ones that play on the front foot, keep the ball, and look like a coherent idea rather than a collection of athletes. Messiah, WashU, St. Olaf, CNU, Cal Lutheran, Mary Washington and a handful of others get the treatment. Two years later the names still hold, which is the point. If you recruit, coach, or just get tired of scoreboard-only content, this one still earns the 21 minutes.
