Ejay’s Weekly Pool – Week Two – The Hive Opines

Week 2 pool, 32 entries, 10 games. Gold is the crowd. Here’s the board with the average lines.
SUNY Oneonta 1.7–1.0 St. Lawrence
Oneonta 56% / draw 19% / SLU 25%. Most common card: 2–1 Oneonta (7). Home side is the pick, not a hammer. Almost a quarter of the room still has the Saints.
My interview with St. Lawrence Head Coach, Mike Toshack
Hobart 1.9–0.8 Rochester
Hobart 78% / draw 13% / Rochester 9%. Most common: 2–0 Hobart (8). Second-loudest favorite of the week. The pool does not see Rochester traveling well.
Gettysburg 1.8–1.1 Bridgewater (VA)
Gettysburg 56% / draw 28% / Bridgewater 16%. Split personality: six people on 2–1, six on 2–2. Favorite, but the draw party is real.
Sewanee 1.6–1.0 Roanoke
Sewanee 59% / draw 22% / Roanoke 19%. Most common: 2–1 Sewanee (8). Home lean, not a lock. Roanoke still has a path in a fifth of the cards.
My interview with Tony Pacella, Head Men’s Coach at Sewanee
Augsburg 1.6–0.8 Edgewood
Augsburg 59% / draw 38% / Edgewood 3%. Almost nobody has Edgewood. The argument is Augsburg or 1–1 — and 1–1 is the single most-picked score in the game (9). Favorite that a lot of people refuse to cash at full price.
My Interview with Augsburg head coach, Greg Holker.
DePauw 1.7–1.3 Calvin
DePauw 53% / draw 19% / Calvin 28%. Tightest “favorite” that isn’t a draw. Six on 2–1, six on 3–1 DePauw. Calvin is the best-backed away side of the week after St. Lawrence.
I interviewed Steve McCarthy at DePauw, back in 2023, when he first arrived.
Ohio Northern 1.7–1.2 Hope
ONU 53% / draw 31% / Hope 16%. Most common: 2–1 ONU (6). Same 53% band as DePauw, bigger draw share. Hope is live as a spoiler, not as the pick.
w/ Coach Chris Matejka of Ohio Northern back in 2022 and a more recent interview with David Blahnik, Head Men’s coach at @HopeCollege
Hardin-Simmons 1.4–1.4 St. Thomas (TX)
Draw 50% / H-S 31% / St. Thomas 19%. Average line dead even. Nine cards on 1–1. This is the pool admitting it does not know. Toughest call of the week.
Kenyon 2.4–0.8 Occidental
Kenyon 91% / draw 6% / Occidental 3%. Twenty-nine of thirty-two. Average margin close to two goals. Most common: 3–1 Kenyon (8). Chalk of the week. If you faded this, you were hunting the field, not the result.
My conversation with Kenyon’s Travis Wall from 2025 and Occidental coach Rod Lafaurie from 2023
Batten 1.5–1.1 Rutgers-Camden
Batten 53% / draw 25% / RUC 22%. Most common: 2–1 Batten (8). Same modest-home profile as ONU and DePauw. Camden is not dead on the cards.
How the room is built
Two games are settled in the pool’s head: Kenyon, then Hobart. One game is a coin: St. Thomas / Hardin-Simmons. Everything else lives in that 53–59% home band, which is another way of saying Week 2 is still mostly “lean the house and don’t get cute” — except where the draw keeps stealing a third of the ticket.
