The first full weekend of the 2026 season is underway. Most nationally ranked sides are still in the non-conference window, the first in-season United Soccer Coaches national polls have not been released yet, and Thursday was a relatively quiet midweek compared with Tuesday’s openers. Below is what actually published today, what posted on school sites from Thursday, and what is worth watching tonight and tomorrow.
United Soccer Coaches / NCAA DIII Top 10
NCAA Division III soccer does not publish a separate weekly “NCAA Top 10” the way football does. The national ranking of record is the United Soccer Coaches poll. As of Friday evening, only the August 4 preseason poll is live. Week 1 in-season ballots typically follow the first full weekend.

Early NCAA individual/team stats (through games of Sept. 1–2) already show how wide the scoring gap can be in Week 1: Lawrence’s Grayson Ogren leads DIII men with 5 goals; Alma, Caltech, Berea, Kean and William Peace sit at the top of scoring offense. On the women’s side, Salve Regina’s 20.00 goals-per-game figure and WashU’s 14.00 jump off the page after blowout openers.

Salisbury 3, Eastern Mennonite 0 — Sea Gulls open the Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament at home. Liam Pierce scored in the 7th minute (assists David Brunetti, Conor Moran), Zach Johnson added one in the 18th (Dale Gordon), and Brunetti finished it in the 66th. Nate Jones had five saves. Salisbury hosts Albertus Magnus at noon Saturday.

Trinity (Texas) on the road in Claremont — The No. 2 Tigers, 4-1 winners over Texas Lutheran on Tuesday, are scheduled at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tonight (7 p.m. PT) before facing Redlands on Sunday in Azusa.

Bethany Lutheran moved Saturday’s men’s home game vs. Wisconsin Lutheran to 9 a.m. and women’s at Hamline to 11 a.m. Gustavus delayed and then pushed its opener. Augsburg’s Sept. 1 women’s match at Loras remains postponed. UW-Stevens Point men host Dubuque tonight at 7 p.m. as published on the Pointers’ 2026 PDF slate.

The women’s index remains much quieter than the men’s side. Visible thread titles are older or low-volume. Most women’s discussion this week is happening on X, school sites, and in crossover posts on the men’s regional threads.

One non-D3 piece worth reading
Real Betis 1, Real Madrid 0 — Kylian Mbappé missed a stoppage-time penalty and Madrid took their first league loss of the season at Estadio de la Cartuja. Troy Parrott scored the 81st-minute winner. It is a useful reminder, in a week of 14-0 and 5-0 DIII scorelines, that the game still refuses to follow the script at the very top.

Scrolling back through SimpleCoachTV I landed on “Best of the Best Soccer Playing Programs in Division III” (watch here), posted February 26, 2024 — well outside the last two months.
It is not a ranking video. It is SimpleCoach explaining which DIII programs he actually likes watching: sides that play on the front foot, build from the back, and treat possession as a habit rather than a slogan. Messiah and Christopher Newport get the early love on the women’s side for exactly that reason. If you are new to the division, or you only follow your own conference, this is still one of the cleaner explanations of why certain DIII teams look different on tape.
