Three Division III Players Receive National Team Call Ups
Over the past 4 months, some remarkable news came out of Division III that didn’t reach much attention. Very rarely, if at all do you read of “national team call up” and “Division III soccer” in the same sentence. But the 2023 season this happened not once, not twice, but three times. In each instance, a Division III player was called up to their respective U23 national teams. Hakeem Morgan of St. Olaf, Quincy Walker of George Fox University, and Franklin Rodriguez of Ohio Wesleyan each were given the chance of a lifetime.
Hakeem Morgan, Forward, St. Olaf College
Morgan was called up to the U23 Costa Rican National Team. Morgan joined the team for Costa Rica’s home international friendly matches during the October FIFA window against Colombia on Oct. 14 and Oct. 17.

Quincy Walker, Defender, George Fox University
Walker started for the Guam U23 National Team in their Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup qualifier against Vietnam early on Wednesday morning.
After attending a summer camp, the sophomore defender was selected for the Guam National Team as a starter. He will help lead his nation to their first-ever appearance at an AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifier.

Franklin Rodriguez, Forward, Ohio Wesleyan University
Rodriguez was called up to the Dominican Republic’s national U-23 team for a friendly against Colombia on 12 January at Romelio Sanchez Stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia.
