D3Boards.com is Sentient – What Does the Future Hold?

It appears that the D3Boards are finally up and functioning. Haven’t tried to post but otherwise it seems to be working. Hopefully the good folks there have done something to the back end infrastructure to give it the much needed stability we haven’t experienced in the last six months or so.

That said, this leaves D3Soccer.Fans in a bit of a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. What to do with the D3Soccer.Fans Community Boards. I have posted a poll on the homepage asking if I should keep the boards, or take them down.

Am a bit sensitive to the fact that support for D3 Athletics is best done collectively. Nonetheless, a part of me is inclined to keep the boards on this site and making them a great place for D3 Soccer supporters.

Its really not that big of a deal one way or the other. In the spirit of transparency however, here are the issues that I am needing to figure out..

  • Looking at sunk costs of $250-$350 a year for the boards.
  • Want to add more functionality…. like what you say?
    • Want to add private messaging capabilities.
    • Adding GIFs and a library of emoticons.
    • Forum-Blog cross posting.
    • Ability for voice postings.
  • Splitting D3 fandom into a separate forum

None of this is new and have been things I have been looking into. But if the consensus seems to be that it would be better to stay on D3Boards then those points are obviously moot.

So with that if you can take a moment to vote in the poll, it would be appreciated. Not sure what I will do, but your input is always helpful in making be sort through the ideas in my head.
